How much can I actually compress a PDF?+
Depends on the content. Text-heavy docs: 20–40%. Scanned docs or image-heavy reports: 60–72%. Already-compressed PDFs: 0–10%. We show the exact savings before you download.
Does compression lose quality?+
Gentle mode is near-lossless — we strip metadata and rebuild internals. Balanced re-encodes images to 90% JPEG quality at 150 DPI. Aggressive goes to 72% quality and 96 DPI. Fonts and vector graphics are never re-encoded.
What's the file size limit?+
25 MB per file on the free tier. For scanned documents that often exceed this, Pro raises the cap to 100 MB.
Can I compress password-protected PDFs?+
Not yet — remove the password first (use unlock tools). Support for encrypted inputs is on the 2026 Q3 roadmap.
